Jan has had a lasting passion for literature, particularly fantasy, and has taught writing and literature at both the secondary and college level. She has worked as a technical writer and editor for the Naval Department of Defense, as a journalist for her community newspaper, and as a grant writer for social services. She has always lived near the sea with her family and her favorite horse, Caleb, formerly in Newport, Rhode Island, and currently in the low country of South Carolina. While kayaking with the dolphins along Shem Creek, she became inspired by the diversity of life both on and off shore and wove these themes together to share with young readers in her recent series, entitled The Lost Mermaid~A Shem Creek Moonlight Jamboree and The Lost Mermaid~Return to the Raspberry Kingdom.
Jan is available for book signings and readings. By dressing as Lily the Mermaid, she will bring Lily to life for interactive readings and presentations. To schedule an event, call 850-382-7001 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
